Dr. Ali Okhowat is passionate about improving access to quality healthcare and justice around the world. A practicing family physician and Clinician Scholar at McGill University Canada and PhD candidate in Bioethics at the Université de Montréal,Ali has had a long-standing interest in issues at the intersection between health, human rights and law, with a particular focus on gender-based violence (GBV). He was part of the McGill team that worked with S.A.F.E. to incorporate messages about GBV into the peace programme and Ni Sisi. He is currently helping to develop a study that seeks to identify the facilitators and barriers to the implementation of GBV laws and policies in five sub-Saharan African countries.
