Gemma studied Music at the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London) in the early 2000's and then went on to work with African and South American musicians organising performance and cultural education tours in the UK for a small charity Indigenous People, based in South London. This led to working with contemporary, classical, African and Gypsy, Roma, Traveller musicians on cultural cohesion projects in deprived areas of London for Lontano Trust. Her last position before joining the S.A.F.E. team was with BRITDOC- piloting and launching their first education project. Doc Academy uses international documentary films representing various social issues alongside tailor made lesson plans to develop literacy skills amongst secondary school children. Gemma has joined us in 2015 as a Consultant Programme Director.
